November/December 2008
From the Office of the GRAND KNIGHT:
I hope you had a wonderful summer season with your family and friends and that your summer was an enjoyable, safe
and healthy one. Now is the time to attend a Council meeting and to once again become involved. Our Council has several
activities coming up in the next few weeks and your help and support is needed. This will help to show that we are still active
and involved with the community.
A reminder that our building dedication gala is on Nov. 15th, the blessing of the building at 5pm will kickoff the day's festivities.
Our Right to Life Drive is still ongoing and chairman Pat Pecoraro needs help with the collection efforts. The next dates and
churches are Nov. 1st & Nov. 2 at St. Vincent's, Nov. 8th & 9th at St. Henry's, Nov. 15th & 16th at Mount Carmel and Nov.
22nd & 23rd at Assumption. We are making plans to hold a New Year's Eve party, along with other events. I would like to
hear from anyone who might have an idea or suggestion for an event or function for our Council to run. I am available on Monday &
Thurs. nights at the Council, or you may call my cell phone at 201-424-4507. I will be glad to talk to you.
Recently we held the initial first degree and second degree in our new facilities. I am extremely pleased to tell you that Council 371
had 10 candidates take steps on the road to Knighthood. Also participating were Councils from Hoboken, Secaucus and Ridgefield
Park and together with our Council at total of 25 candidate took part in the degrees. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate
the degree team for an extremely well done job. We were afforded the honor to have in attendance the State Secretary, Herb Meyer
and District Deputy, Hal Delaney who addressed the new members. We will be holding a Thirdd Degree on Nov. 7th at 8pm. Make an effort
to attend this event.
I look forward to the coming months with great anticipation that the Knights of Columbus will continue to grow and be active in the community
and church activities. Our next meeting is Nov. 3rd at 8pm. Please try to be there. The next officers meeting will be on Nov. 10th at 7pm.
