April 15th – tax day is right around the corner. It’s become popular this time of year to encourage the opening of an IRA or similar retirement annuity, or the depositing of additional funds into existing account, as a tax savings vehicle. A secondary approach is to tout the rate of interest that money in one of these accounts can earn. Let me join the chorus of folks encouraging you to open or add funds to an annuity, but for a different reason.

Certainly, contributing money to a Knights of Columbus annuity will allow you to save some money on your income tax return. And our annuities do pay a very competitive interest rate, consistent with our primary goal of absolute safety of principal. Opening or adding to an annuity for these reasons, however, strikes me as taking a short-term view of a product that is designed to provide long-term security. How much security? Hoe does a retirement income that you cannot outlive-guaranteed-sound to you?

Here at the Knights of Columbus, you can open a retirement annuity for as little as $300. Consistent and disciplined savings placed into that annuity over time can guarantee you an income that you cannot outlive. That guarantee-along with the fact that one has ever lost money left in a Knights of Columbus annuity (remember- absolute safety of principal). Really will provide you with peace of mind.

I am happy to meet with you- at your convenience and in your home- to explain the benefits of opening a Knights of

Columbus annuity. Along with the benefits of our top- rated life insurance

and long term care insurance plans.

As you ponder all things that may not work out as proceed toward retirement, think about one thing you can do to help yourself- opening a Knights of Columbus annuity.

It’s reasonably priced ($300. to start), guaranteed, and controlled by someone you trust!

Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, Sunday March 16, 2008 at 1pm.

The wearing of the green is for the Irish and all who are Irish for the day, a great day! Come join your fellow Brothers in representing the Knights in this year’s parade. The Knights will meet at 5th street and Broadway. All members are welcome to march, if you can’t march, come out to the parade and show you support for the Knights who march.

This year’s the Grand Marshal is our Brother, Carmine Brorzelli PGK, FDD.

May your neighbors respect you, trouble neglect you, the angles protect you and Heaven accept you.

May the leprechauns be near you, to spread luck along your way, and may all the Irish angles smile

on you this Saint Patrick’s Day.

Lourdes celebrating 150 years of Miracles: After 150 years, Lourdes, France, still holds

a special place in the hearts and minds of millions around the world. Dubbed a

“  Place of  Miracles”. Lourdes is where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared 18 times beginning

Feb. 11 1858. Our Lady’s message at Lourdes took root and flourished against staggering odds,

and continues to yield tremendous graces in the lives of countless people today.

Lourdes today features several churches and chapels to accommodate the growing crowds and

their desire to attend Mass in a variety of different languages. There are also areas for private

prayer and contemplation. A team of specially trained chaplains from around the world helps

minister to pilgrims’ spiritual needs. Priests are available daily for counseling, to hear confessions in various languages and assist with liturgical celebrations. Each day from April to October, there is a eucharistic procession, culminating in a blessing of the sick. The rosary is prayed in the

evening during a torchlight procession.

Pilgrims can wash their hands and faces or drink from the spring that Beradette uncovered in 1858. they can even fully submerse themselves in the healing waters in private bathhouses.

The impressive care offered to pilgrims inspired Pope John Paul to visit the sanctuary twice in 1983, and 2004. In1992 he initiated the World Day of Prayer for the sick, observed annually on Feb. 11 the day Our Lady first appeared to  Bernadette.
